The NDIS has announced that eligible Participants may now use their core funds for meal preparation and delivery. This temporary support measure was announced on 13 January and will be available nationally until 28 February 2022.

Participants can now use their core budget funds to engage an external meal preparation and delivery provider to supply their meals in lieu of paying a support worker to assist with these tasks at home. There are several meal preparation and delivery providers available for Participants to choose from, including Kinela, Nourish’d, Lite n Easy and the Good Meal Co.

The change was announced in response to the growing COVID-19 Omicron and Delta variant outbreaks nationwide and is one of many changes enacted to minimise the spread of the virus through vulnerable communities.
